Yay, More From Edmonton

My home town has done it again.
On March 7 mayor Mayor Mandel (Stevie Mendez as I call him) declared The week of March 7 to March 11 Sexual exploitation week in Edmonton.
The week of awareness runs March 7 to 11, with sessions on human trafficking; sexual exploitation and the law; sexual minority groups; cultural community groups; and the Prostitution Offender Program. The events are organized by the Sexual Exploitation Working Group of Edmonton, a collaboration of REACH Edmonton, City of Edmonton Community Services and community organizations.
The events during the week of awareness recognize that there are many persons -- children and adults, men and women and trans-identified people -- who experience sexual exploitation.

News News News.

Ive got more good news this time from China.
Since April of 2009 Chinese police have started a major crackdown on human trafficking and it has paid off. A total of 10,621 kidnapped women and 5,896 kidnapped children. They also have rescued a large number of foreign people totaling up to 1,099. 17,616 people have been saved in total in China. This number is small compared to how many people are trafficked every year but at least the Chinese are making a difference in some peoples lives.
